Jan/30/2003. Get Connected (Fred Everything Remixes) / Tony Hewitt - Party People EP - Nightshift Recordings
Chris Lum is widely considered to be a key player in the development of the San Francisco house scene. He has been heavily involved in its development as a key retail figure, as well as a well-respected DJ. With partner Jay-J, Chris also runs San Francisco's prestigious recording facility, Moulton Studios. Moulton is home to some of San Francisco's hottest producers, including, Miguel Migs, Julius Papp, David Harness and Rick Preston. Based upon the highest standard of quality coming from the studios, they have been heavily involved in the development of some of San Francisco's now internationally renowned labels.
Fred's 'Connected Mix' stays true to the original, maintaining the vocal and the bass line while adding texture, atmosphere and slightly funkier groove. 'The Connected Dub', however, has driving tribal rhythms and lower-than-low end groove. Tony Hewitt offers up an original track of his own, 'Party People, to round out another solid package from the ever-dependable Nightshift camp.
Nightshift Recordings is a new sublabel from the people of Tango Recordings, Hipp-E and Tony Hewitt, started in 2002. This label is run by Hipp-E himself, and supports the so called West-Coast sound.
