A superb rendition of "Blue Reverie", featuring a contingent from the Duke Ellington Orchestra, recorded during Benny Goodman's first Carnegie Hall Concert of January 16th, 1938. Johnny Hodges in particular is outstanding on soprano saxophone, paying homage to Sidney Bechet. The performance is introduced by Benny Goodman. These transfers are taken from Columbia 78 rpm vinyl "special records" made for radio broadcasts only.
