Gene Chandler (Eugene Dixon) born in Chicago, on June 6th 1937. Singer and producer. He formed The Gaytones at school in 1955 and joined The Dukays in 1957. Almost immediately afterwards he served in U.S. Army in Germany. He rejoined The Dukays in 1960. From 1961 onwards Gene Chandler recorded as a solo artist. He put nineteen songs in the top forty, but he will always be known all over the world as The Duke of Earl, his first hit that topped the pop and R&B charts in 1962 and launched his career.
