Live in concert at the peak of their UK popularity, this recording is one of the first dates on Dead Or Alive's 1985 tour. Following a handful of negative reviews after their previous UK tour for the use of backing tapes, they went all out for the "Youthquake" tour and played completely live, supported by additional musicians hired away from The Gary Numan Experience and seven backing vocalists (the 4 male vocalists did double duty as dancers, as well). But, journalists being journalists, the reviews leveled the same complaints against them- they were just too good live to make everyone believe there wasn't some backing tapes happening on stage. Pete Burns felt if he was going to be criticized for using tapes even when he WASN'T, he shouldn't bother playing live anymore at all. It was exhausting and expensive to recreate their sound on stage. Their next tour, in 1987, would barely feature anything live at all; Pete and the band would play and sing over fully recorded backing tapes, and allowing for more choreographed dance routines which went over very well in the USA and Japan, where he would continue to tour for years to come. This recording was captured by a concealed microphone in the audience, and I have done what I could to improve the sound quality working from that actual original tape.
