Norman Connors

American jazz drummer, composer, arranger, producer and headliner. Born March 1, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. His first recording was "Magic Of JuJu" by [a=Archie Shepp] in 1967. In 1972, he recorded his first album as a bandleader. He went on to lead jazz recordings with [a=Carlos Garnett], [a=Gary Bartz], [a=Dee Dee Bridgewater] and [a=Herbie Hancock]. In the mid-'70s, he turned to sophisticated R'n'B and soul material featuring guest singers such as [a=Michael Henderson], [a=Jean Carn], [a=Phyllis Hyman], [a=Al Johnson], [a=Jones Girls], etc.
