Dans le cadre de sa tournée ‘Running Free Again Tour 2011′, nous avons eu l’opportunité de poser quelques questions à Paul Di Anno, emblématique chanteur du groupe Iron Maiden jusqu’en 1981 avec qui il aura enregistré les deux premiers albums. In english sir!

RUNNING FREE AGAIN TOUR 2011 is a 100 date tour, and it seems like a new one is added every week, where do you find the energy to make this possible?
I really do not know myself, but I am going to just keep on touring while I still can

For this tour, there will be some old Iron Maiden songs (from the two first albums,) and new songs (from third album to now). How will this be set in place during the show?
There will be Many songs from the first two Iron Maiden albums, and there will NOT be any songs from any other Maiden albums. Basically we shall be playing the classic favourites from Iron Madien and Killers albums

Which song is the one that gives you the most pleasure to sing? Prowler for instance, which is one of my favourite, I would say?
I do not really have a favourite as I think that both of the first two albums contain practically all classic heavy metal iconic performances

Will you sing only Iron Maiden songs, or will it have a place for your own compositions?
Maybe a couple of my own solo songs, but otherwsie all Maiden songs

Are you going to make a live release out of those various shows?
No I do not intend to

Every « old » fan of Iron Maiden continues to listen to the two first albums and a lot of people come to see you on stage singing those songs. Some of them weren’t even born in 1980, how do you explain that?
The songs and performances are timeless and no other artist can ever match that period in time

How does it feel to be on stage with Corverslave, since, they, for the elder ones, could have been in front of you, in the crowd, during tours in 1980, yelling and head-banging ?
It is great for me as Coverslave are specialsts of Iron Maiden songs

You have been on stage with Corverslave in 2010. How did you meet them, and what was your feeling at first with those guys?
I have worked with them a few time now, and each time is a great pleasure for me and i cannot remember how or where we first met

A question that a lot of heavy metal fans would like to ask : will we have, sometime in the future, the pleasure to see you on stage for a special tour that could be called Iron Maiden’s Di’Anno period, with the Steve Harris’ bass and Maiden’s guitars and drums ? Can we have a little hope?
Sorry guys but i seriously do not think that will ever happen
