"Born in 1975 in Santiago del Estero, Argentina, has lived and worked in Paris since 1999. Active member of the alternative scene since the early 90´s, Rafael BRAVO makes « Impossible Creatures », that is to say dolls inspired by the gothico fair like imaginary world and by the strangeness of the night. On his arrival in 1999, Rafael BRAVO exhibited his watercolours and drawings based on Feminity and Vampires, in Paris underground places (Kata Bar, Enklave...) while his first dolls, real incarnations of his drawings came to life. Since 2000, he has highly improved his techniques and his « Impossible Creatures » are part and parcel of his work : drawings, paintings and music. Now, his dolls open up new themes - The Falling Angels, Fetichism and Androgynia. Eighty centimeters tall, haughty and demanding they display their wholly articuled body made of wood and plastic, clad in leather, vinyl, velvet and lace hand made garments. Standing on a plinth, they exhibit elegant accessories. Each piece of work is unique of its kind. The dark and hollow eyes of the first creatures are now replaced by a deep or empty gaze. Their red, blue, amber eyes are made of crystal, where everyone can read anger, incomprehension, pain, sadnesss... Just like their make up or hair styles, this range of expression has been sculpted with care and precision." - Kristel Verdier
