I am from New York, I will always consider that as my home even though I haven\'t lived there for quite some time. Its hard to describe but it it something that you are a part of and it is a part of you. I have lived in all four reagions of the US; the East coast, the South, the Midwest and now the Southwest. I love living in Arizona with all of the desert colors and bright sunshine. After 15 miseerable years in Michigan\'s gray overcast and cold skies I am loving the sun. I would never have believed that the desert could be so beautiful, but after a week\'s visit I was sold. The light of the sunrises and sunsets are fantastic which helps in creating all of the wonderful colors. The only place that I know that is more lovely is the south of France. If I could afford it I would move there in a heart beat. I have been drawing all of my life. I was an artist for the Navy, worked on Madison Avenue as a graphic artist, and have studied Fine Art in New York, Paris, London, Copenhagen and Chicago. I have always wanted to be an artist , I guess we should be careful for what we ask for, we just might get it. I love being an artist, but, it doesn\'t always pay the bills. But, it is what I do and so I continue on my quest to feed my habit.
I didn\'t alway work with pastels, actually all I wanted to do was to paint in oils. But while in one of my graduate programs a professor of mine, Ed Paschke, came into my studio and took all of my brushes and gave me a set of pastels. He never said a word but just left with my brushes. So I had no choice but to work in pastels. At first, I didn\'t like this new and strange medium, but the more I worked with it the more it\'s secrets were revealed to me as to how to work with them. That was 20 years ago and I finally think that I have become pretty good with pastels. Not perfect, that is what, we as artist, continually strive for, but never really know if we ever succeed. But, I do love the colors. My work is about color.
