BIOGRAPHIE

Lucia Babjakova is a young up and coming artist from the Czech Republic. Born in Michalovce, Slovakian Republic in 1982, and educated in Brno.She is fast establishing herself as one of the new faces from Eastern Europe with her unique vision of Fauvist inspired nudes and abstracts.Lucia is an instinctive colourist who creates a bridge between abstraction and figurative art by the use of strong primary colour, ruthless honesty of form, figure, expressionistic vigour and boldness of concept. She has not followed an orthodox route to being a professional artist. Having moved countries as a child, she trained and bred pit bull terriers in the USA as a teenager and is now studying aesthetics and languages at Masaryk University in (Brno) Czech rep. Her work is never obscure. Always compelling, but also unaffected by commercial or fashion considerations. SWhe is exhibiting in Praha in February 2005 and Poland and Crete later in the year.
