In June 2005, Simpson will be exhibiting in the Château-Musée Grimaldi in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France; at Galeria Zero, Barcelona; and at the Fundaçion Eugenio F. Granell in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
Born in Ottawa in 1947, North Vancouver artist, Gregg Simpson, has been active in art since the
mid-1960s. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Canada, the U.S., France,
Italy, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Malaysia, and is in over 100 private and public
collections in Europe, Asia and North America, including a recent acquisition by the Monaco
Modern Art Museum.
In 2003, his work was exhibited in Tuscany at the Fortezza di Montalcino, a 14th Century castle. This exhibition is the subject of a TV documentary,available soon in France, entitled A New Arcadia, The Art of Gregg Simpson.
Simpson’s work has been written about and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, the Université Rabelais de Tours, and at the Accademia Tiberina in Rome. His work has been published by two renowned art historians, José Pierre, in his landmark book, L’Univers Surréaliste, and in 1999, Sarane Alexandrian put Simpson’s work in Supériore Inconnu.
