Robert Terrell was born in 1953 in San Antonio, Texas and now lives in Lubbock, Texas. From a very early age he showed an extremely creative and curious nature, and was extremely interested in art, astronomy, meterology, ham radio, music, physics, reading, collecting coins, stamps, rocks, and building model ships and airplanes. His many hobbies and interest have informed his artwork on multiple, interconnected levels. Robert attended art school at Texas Tech University School of Art and California State University Los Angeles. He received a BFA in Studio Art with a major in painting and a minor in drawing, in 1977. Since then he has pursued his artwork and art career, focusing strongly on abstract art. All Robert's paintings, including his landscapes and cityscapes have an abstract foundation, and are built upon abstract principles. With his bas-relief paintings and wall sculptures, he takes his abstract experiments one step further: the interplay between 2 and 3D elements in the creative design process. From his earliest childhood to the present, Robert's interests come together (sometimes subliminally) to create rich, multi-leveled, open-ended works of art. This is his underlying motive for creating art: visual and mental, dynamic interest, sustainable through time. Robert has shown with several galleries in Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York through the years. He has art in various collections, including Compaq Computers, Coastal Banc Savings & Loan, First City National, and a number of private collections. Currently he is developing internet art connections.
